Left out

Inspection franchises (Pillar To Post, HomeTeam, WIN), staging and listing photography companies are not profiled yet. Cinch, Old Republic Home Protection and other warranty sellers are left out: we found no figures we could cite (Old Republic’s 10-K lists home warranty only as a coverage type). We do not publish plan prices, which vary by state and plan, or review-site star ratings. We did not check individual inspectors’ state licenses. Complaint counts are quoted only where a regulator published them.

Questions

Which home warranty company is largest?

By its own 10-K, Frontdoor (American Home Shield and other brands), with about 2.1 million active warranties and $2,093M of revenue in 2025.

Is a home warranty worth it?

We do not judge that. First American’s filing shows claims were 41.4% of its premiums in 2025. Value for you depends on the contract’s exclusions and caps.

What is the difference between a home warranty and a repair plan?

A home warranty covers systems and appliances inside the home. A repair plan such as HomeServe’s covers specific lines, like the water or sewer line on your property.

ASHI or InterNACHI?

Both publish standards of practice. ASHI’s top credential requires at least 250 fee-paid inspections; InterNACHI offers a buy-back guarantee. Either way, check the inspector’s state license.
