How firms are selected
We cover the firms and tools a buyer, owner, agent or investor is likely to be choosing between, and we pick them from lists other people publish or from the public record:
- Public companies that report the business in an annual filing (for example a 10-K, 20-F or 40-F), such as the commercial brokerages, homebuilders, REITs, lenders and title insurers.
- Firms measured by a third party, such as the apartment managers and developers on NMHC’s 2026 lists, and the law firms at the top of the Chambers USA 2026 nationwide real estate and REIT tables.
- Boutique, regional and local firms in our city hubs, listed only when we could confirm a local office on the firm’s own site.
- Software whose plans and prices we could read on the vendor’s own pages.
Each section hub has a “Left out” note that names firms we did not profile and why, usually because we could not find a source we could cite. Readers and companies can suggest a firm, broker or tool through the contact page. Suggestions go through the same checks before anything is published.
Sourcing
- Every fact is sourced. Each figure and statement about a firm links to where we read it: an SEC filing or other public record, a regulator or attorney-general release, a third-party ranking or list (such as NMHC, Chambers USA or The Legal 500), or the firm’s own official site. Pages list their sources with the date we read them.
- Company claims are labeled. Claims a firm makes about itself, such as “largest” or a review count, are quoted as the firm’s own words or marked as self-reported.
- No estimates. When we cannot find a source, we leave the fact out and say so (most profiles have a “What we could not verify” list) rather than fill the gap.
- Our arithmetic is shown. Shares, growth rates and margins we calculate from reported figures are marked as our arithmetic on the cited numbers.
- No legal, investment or lending advice. Pages about law firms, investments and lenders describe the public record only.
How scores work
Where we score a firm, the score is a number out of 10, shown with its per-criterion breakdown and the source for each criterion. Each criterion turns a sourced value into points using fixed bands, and the points are weighted and added up. The weights, bands and evidence rules for every section are on the methodology page.
- A firm is scored only when every criterion can be sourced. Otherwise it shows “Not yet scored,” and the profile says what is missing. Not being scored is not a judgment of the firm.
- Scores describe the public record, not service quality. We attach no recommendation label or tier to a score.
- Because a score is calculated from sourced values with fixed bands, it changes only when one of those values or the published method changes. Asking us, or contacting us, does not change a score or a ranking.
How often facts are rechecked
A fact check runs every Monday against the sources linked on our pages. When a figure no longer matches its source, we update the page and note the change in that page’s changelog. Hubs and profiles show the date they were last updated or verified. Factual errors we fix are also listed in the corrections log below.
Independence and disclosures
- Who runs this site. Real Estate Industry Reviews is operated by Siana Marketing, which sells SEO, GEO and AI-search services, including to real estate businesses.
- Siana is never scored or ranked. Siana Marketing has a separately labeled profile in the marketing section that only states what its own pages say. It is listed unscored and is left out of every ranking, score table, comparison, chart and count, and from the compare tool.
- Client relationships are disclosed. When a firm or person we cover is a client of Siana Marketing, a one-line disclosure appears wherever they appear on the site. Currently: Regent Commercial Real Estate is a client of Siana Marketing, which operates this site. Regent is profiled under the same commercial-brokerage rubric and evidence rules as its peers, and is not yet scored for insufficient public evidence, like the other boutique and local firms.
- No paid placement. No one pays for placement, ranking or a score, and we take no sponsorships. Listings and scores are based only on the published methodology and the sources cited on each page.
Corrections
Companies and readers can ask for a correction through our contact page. Choose the “Correction” topic and include the page address and, if you can, a public source for the right figure.
- We check each request against the cited sources and fix factual errors on the page, with a dated changelog entry.
- Factual corrections are listed in the log below with the date, the page, what was wrong and what changed.
- Requests to change a score are checked the same way: a score changes only if a sourced value behind it was wrong or has changed.
- Brokers can ask for their profile to be corrected or removed through the same page, using the “Removal / opt-out request” topic. See how we verify brokers.
Corrections log
Factual corrections to published pages, newest first. Routine updates when a source publishes new figures are recorded in each page’s own changelog.
- · 2026 State of the Industry report. What was wrong: The methodology box said the financial comparisons use 34 profiled firms. Correction: Corrected to 33 profiled firms that file two years of revenue and net income (31 of them in the five categories with medians, plus Frontdoor and Zillow Group). The figures, charts and scores in the report did not change.
